Caroline Gosselin
Caroline Gosselin Owner, Sommelier
Caroline Gosselin was born and raised in Ottawa. In 1990, she moved to Sweden to the island of Marstrand where she fell in love with the Nordic light. Her success as an artist and her network of many fine European artists inspired her to open her own gallery in Sweden called “Gallery Mareld”.
After moving back to Ottawa in 2001, she developed her first business concept for restaurant e18hteen. In 2005, she launched Par-fyum Bistro Moderne in Hull and in 2008 Pedi Pleasures Nail Bar in Ottawa
During this period she also hosted weekly series of wine and food pairing “Through the Grapevine” for A-channel and today she currently writes a column on wine and food for Ultra Magazine in Los Angeles.
As an entrepreneur, owner, and sommelier of restaurant e18hteen, she surrounds herself with a team of consummate professionals that together have positioned e18hteen as one of the finest restaurants in Canada.
As a multi-talented entrepreneur, she combines her artistic skill as a painter and interior designer with her passion for gastronomy. The effect is a seamless dining experience that caters to all of the senses.
The series of paintings that adorn the walls are Caroline’s “Caught on Camera” collection. Through the use of oil charcoal and mixed media, the paintings achieve a multi-layered effect, creating unparalleled tonal depth. A dry-brush blending technique is used to create an impressionistic blurred effect as if the observer is looking through a moving camera lens.
Caroline is a 40 under 40 recipient and a Women of Distinction nominee for 2009.
